ECU Code 1-5-4 900 1995

phil,

EGR Temperature sensor possibly reading too high? It should be between 500-1000 ohms at ambient temperature and I assume have a linear response as it heats up. If the EGR is closed, the ECU will expect the temperature to drop. If the probe is falsely reporting high temperatures, that would set the code.

If the EGR is leaking (closed but still passing exhaust) that could set the same code. If that were the case, I would have expected a rough idle associated with this fault. Since the only symptom you report is CEL and code, I tend to think the temperature sensor is a much more likely failure.
