Hi Eric,
I think these seals were made with the correct mold - they are perfect as far as matching the shape of my old seals. What went wrong (I think) is that the rubber material didn't have the same density or compliancy - the new seals are too hard - they don't compress the same. The old stuff is squishier (I know there are technical terms for all this but hey its the weekend and my brain is tired).
The speedo gear interests me as I currently have a non-working speedometer. If I take it apart I may find this is my problem. Since I haven't seen the gear - could you tell me, can this part be easily machined or would it definetly have to be molded (ie, how intricate is it)?
BTW, the seals I found that work were purchased from:
http://www.metrommp.com/
go to Universal Parts
Door top and side seals
p/n is LP 112-E
(they will send free samples too)
or call 763-757-0310
You'll need about 25' to do both doors all the way around..which comes to ~$97 w/ shipping
also see Door seals 101 thread:

Thanks for volunteering a list - I will be patient. If you don't feel comfortable posting it here please email it to me.
