recprocating saw for exhaust cutting?

Next time you try to use the thing for cutting metal, get some different length very fine tooth metal blades . With a little finesse you can do some pretty fine work with the big sawzall type beast . I just love my big De Walt saw. Once you get used to bracing yourself in, with the right blade, those things will make short work of metal in some pretty hard to get to places. Trick is starting slow.
