I have spark, and I have fuel.
This no-start problem occured before I changed the timing belt. But yes, I double checked the rotor, wires and timing marks.
After reading some FAQ's the CAT became of interest.
I did have a broken clamp connecting the CAT to the front header pipe, which I left as such and had a loud sounding car for about three weeks. Hoping to see some blockage, I peered into the CAT. All looks ok albiet surfaces are covered with black soot. I cranked with the CAT pulled out of the way and the header pipe open, but still no start. Just a couple of loud "burps" where the engine almost starts. Does the sensor I see poking into the CAT have any impact on starting?
Will a car start without any further pipes connected to the header pipe?
