How tough to replace Steering column 200 1988

I should have mentioned that i just replaced my rotors. What i am feeling is actual play in the steering wheel, probably from a dying u-joint. even when the car is stopped, i can move the wheel left and right, and feel/hear the click of the joint as i go left and right.

as for the lugs, one bolt is crossthreaded. The lug itself is stuck at the very tip of the bolt. I didn't even notice it because the hubcap covered it up. (time to get some alloys)
