Vacuum check results - general engine condition 120-130

The bouncy needle you saw probably means you have an intake valve not seating
right. This will NOT be cured by a valve lash adjustment unless you have zero
lash on one valve. It is more likely a seating problem and the cure might be
a valve job.
What kind of vacuum do you get on hard deceleration? Should be pretty high.
It is not the carbs running on vacuum that sped the idle- it was the massive
vacuum leak that provides more air to the rich idle mixture, just like setting
the idle faster. You gotta plug the hole when you are not measuring vacuum!
