My experience has been that you want thicker, not thinner motor mounts to make
sure your oil pan never contacts the crossmember. I've used 164 motor mounts
in 140s and 122s and been very happy with them.
I spent a couple years trying to chase down a grinding noise in the front of my
122 wagon, changing over $1000 worth of suspension and braking components only
to find that the noise came from my pan contacting the crossmember upon braking
or downhill deceleration. If allowed to continue too long, especially with dust
and other grit, this could wear a hole in the pan.
