Thanks for the advice on the battery test idea. I figured 12v would fry the gauge so I had no plans to do that. The gauge has two posts plus has a friction ground as it goes into it hole in the cluster. Will wait and see if other chime in as well on testing. If the gauge is bad I wonder what my options are. Years ago I sent the clock out of my 69SS camaro out west somewhere and had it repaired. don't recall where that was at. Finding another working GT fuel gauge I assume will not be easy.
On the Rheostat for dimming the dash lights. The spring is sticking out the side so I assume it is shot. Not sure if I can find a replace that would fit that hole in the cluster. For now I will just leave the lights wired at full illumination.
I think I'm going to put the org cluster back in while I would out the bugs in the GT cluster.
