T5 Adapter Plates 120-130

Paul,

No offense, but we are talking about a T5 adapter plate, not refitting a nuclear power plant. If you've got the skills to take your tranny out, then you should be able to put one of these in. I'm sure when Dale gets up and running with his plates there will be a very well produced set of instructions. From his post on TB (and conversations we've had) this is his first run of parts, so you'll have to step up to the plate and put one on a 122/1800/140.

Regarding other swaps - lots of them have been done, so why be repeative. You can find out the correct T5 to perform the swap from many sources. On the will it fit side, earlier cars are going to need some tunnel modifications to fit and the shifter on most T5's is back around where a "long top" M41 would be.

This is not a direct swap it in and walk away sort of job - it will require some fabrication as all of these swaps do.

As for differences from the VPD parts (and I have one of John's adapters in case you thing I'm just spouting off) - Please check Dale's references on TurboBricks and compare his delivery and service record. I know from first hand experience that dealing with VPD can be a long term sort of thing...nothing wrong when you do get the parts, but there is a great deal of variance in the length of the wait. I understand that dealing with a small volume community like vintage Volvo performance means that waits are to be expected, but John sometimes gets very busy and can't keep up with the demand.

Therefore, Dale has decided to offer some additional support for our community by offering the M41 conversion. Avalanche Performance has a long history of designing and building some very nice Volvo parts (Wilwood brakes, pullies, and other marvels of modern technology) and suppling bushings for many front and rear suspensions (mine included). So, there is no risk here.

As for the M46 conversion plate - that is a marvel of engineering. Allowing 122/1800/140 owners to stand up a B21/B23/B230 in our cars is truly unique and should be supported. He knows it works and this allows for something new in the community.

Craig
