Corrosion, ground point?

Would not surprise me if that is related to corrosion or ground.

I would start by dis-connecting and reconnecting the small sensors under the intake, using some electrical spray cleaner and some dielectric grease.

I am not sure which one is related to the temp gauge, but they are hard to get to, so do it all cold. if you have trouble getting them off then move them as much as possible to re-establish contact and see if that helps.

Grounds is another thing that can cause probs like this, but I would think that it might hinder something else working properly. Hopefully someone reading this with more expertise in the multiple grounding points can shed more light.

Wish you well.
