Might work, i haven't had a good look at the leak, i fear it might be at a weld. I am trying to avoid removing the pipe because I lent my ratchet extensions to my brother : ( I might as well just get new ones...

Anyways, on to a permanent fix: replacement. How much would you guys spend on a down pipe, also, what years should work with an 89? Did the cat flanges changed before 89 and after.
