plug help!! 200 1988

Washers? Every 240 I have owned called for the Bosch WR7DC plug, or equivalent. The Bosch have washers.

I think that you will see on those AutoLites a chamfered edge where your NGK's have a washer. The chamfered (coned) edges are made to match up with a coned edge in the head. Volvo has a flat surface that requires a washer. Another clue to the Volvo IQ of your PO.

Washers are supposed to be a one-time use. They flatten with the torque.

Use a little anti-sieze on the plugs for ease in the next removal. Reduce the torque a bit, 20% or so, as the antisieze acts as a lubricant and over-torquing will be easy. Not good with an aluminum head.

Good Luck,

Bob
