I have never owned a 90's 240. I have owned my 1985 245 since new. I will say this....It has not been trouble free, but when you consider that in November, it will be 24 years old, then the term trouble free takes on an entire new meaning. For years I allowed the Dealership to do all my service. After finding that I was being charged for service items that were not performed, I began doing my own repair, as well as routine maintenance. Mine is a low mileage car (118,000 miles), so I have not experienced some of the failures that the rest of these good people have. Mine has not been exposed to road salt, so I don't have the issues with rust. Mine is garaged, so I don't have all the sun/weather damage. It is a grand old automobile, and I fully expect it to be the last car I ever purchase for myself (the wife's car is a different issue altogether). I think that you could look far and wide, and not ever find a car that has so much character, or personality. Even when they do exhibit a problem, you can usually do a quick patch and get home with the car under it's own power. Go for it, and have fun with it.
