2-4-1 EGR Check Engine Code 900 1994

The system has an EGR valve/ A vacuum hose/ A controller/ A thermometer
The EGR valve has a thermometer to detect the flow connected to the harness.
The Vacuum hose goes to the controller and then to the Intake manifold.
Something within all that is not working.
To check the flow You need to disconnect the EGR pipe to the intake and pull it away a little. Plug the hole in the intake. Start the engine and rev up to about 2000 rpm/ if the valve is working you will notice the flow. Flow. thermometer is bad. No flow, try by pass the vacuum hose to the controller and go direct to the intake. Rev up again and watch for the flow. No flow, valve is bad. Flow, controller is bad.
Bad thermometer also means you nee a valve. comes all together.
Kinda puzzling I hope i got it right.
