'71 142S Road test data 140-160

B20Paul--I think they-Wheels-got all they could, acceleration wise. I know I have the Road & Track issue with the test of the newly introduced '69 142 with the B20 and accereration to 60 was in the 12 second range. They also listed the top end at 104, the same as Wheels, and I can verify that with my (at that time) stock 30 year old, freshened '69 144S, clocked at the same speed by a Southhampton town officer (heh, heh). Negotiations in court followed, and everyone went home happy/relieved (my wallet only slightly lightened). And for V70Driver--my first 140, a 1968, had the original papers included. It went out the door for $3200 tax and license included. That was a no A/C, 4-speed, AM radio, 144S I bought 10 years later at a dealer's (my dad) auction for $500, with less than 60k on the clock. I drove/modified it for 10 years till it was blasted from behind by a jacked up pickup. Parts still live on in the replacement--the '69 Volvo From Heck. I'm surprised at the difference with the '71 pricewise, in the area of 25%. At the time my '68 sold for $3200, I was working part time as a driver for a leasing company. They were selling fully loaded Impalas for $3500.
