Quick hint on finding an electrical short 700 1989

Thanks Bill .. It actually was not ignored, just not done yet - and I had just been asking about for various solutions. I do have a test light, and it was told to me that this was sufficient if used right.

I do not have a good meter - plan to get one today - and also get the car over here today so I can do these steps.

When you say in series ...where are you telling me to connect the meter leads (as you can see, I am not too smart here)?
Can I use the meter to check the alt.?
Also ..I will go to Advance to buy me a meter. Do not want to spend too much. How good a meter should I get? I assume it would need to read MA & Amps ...right?

Thanks again for all the help - to you and others.
