I have been riding with Metzler ME880's
But the inexpensive Conti's are fine for a fair weather Rider. I ride mine until it snows and they salt the roads ( About 10 months a year). I also have a full Dress bike (Yamaha Venture Royale).
I do my own tires but they are a real pain even with the Tire Changer I have. Maybe for the first time, Let "the Guy" do it. Spoked rims? You will need new Tubes too.
Jackets. I have ridden with leather (about 25 years) until just last year. A guy at work bought a TOURMASTER 'Transistion' jacket. He let me borrow it for a few days and they are just as warm and much lighter than Leather. There are tons of Venting Zippers to let air in as the weather gets warm again. I bought the same jacket and have used it for just about a full year now.
There are many places on-line to buy tires. Whitney wont be your best bet.
