I used up the two #37 bulbs I had in the shift indicator and console glove box lights. The bulbs are tight fit, but worked. I'll check the VW dealer in town next time I need a 2721. Maybe my shift indicator lamp holder didn't want to go up in place because the bigger bulb had expanded it. I know the holder for the other one was hard to get into its clip. Those other light holder assemblies appear to have the bulb leads welded to the terminals. The leads need to be about 15mm long and those on the 2721 bulbs are still too short when straightened out, but maybe you can solder on extensions.
