access to brakelight switch?

The switch is a difficult reach for sure but how about the wires leading to it? If you can stand on your head in the driver's footwell you might be able to gain reasonable access to the wires.

One of those wires should be 12v. If you have 12v in one of the wires you can simply install a jumper of some sort and short it to the other wire. If the brake lights come on with the jumper in place you have a problem with the switch.
