Steve,

I believe I am correct that only the 940 SE models had the IRS, and the SE model is less common than the standard 940.

Check the 700/900 FAQ section for some axel ratio info. Among other things, I think you will find that the 1041 axel is the one with the automatic locking feature. I can't tell you about bolt-in interchange.
