Hazard light dash switch S90-V90 1997

Hi all,

In reference to the following issue:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1264845/S90-V90/turn_signal_intermittent_failure.html

As a preventive measure, I replaced all 4 bulbs - devil of a time finding the European style rear turn signal light bulbs: amber with an offset pin arrangement.

The problem went away on its own, but now it's back. I have confirmed I have a balky hazard light switch. When the turn signals go, the hazard lights don't work either. I can revive the flasher function by tapping on the hazard switch until the hazard lights start working again, and that makes the turn signals start to work again as well.

Another thing - I noticed the self-cancel feature on the turn signal stalk is losing its grip. It sometimes does not cancel after signaling and completing a right turn. So, am I correct to still suspect the hazard light switch?

Now, is it a simple matter to pull/pry out the hazard light switch and replace it? Or maybe I can just clean the contacts instead of buying a replacement? (Secondhand is out of the question - this is an electrical part, so I would rather go with new if I deem it needs replacing.)

Thanks in advance.
-Lavesh
