Need serious help please 120-130 1967

I'm a pain with all these questions.
But heres another.
Ran my car this morning. Fine.
Started it in the afternoon. Horrible.
Backfiring and threatening to stall.
Oh, it's low on gas.
So I drive it to the gas station about .02 miles away and it stalls on the busiest street in the area.
A couple people help me get it to the pump & I fill it up.
Go to start it, batteries dead.
The man working at the gas station tries to jump my car.
Turns and turns and turns.. Wont catch.
For about 10 minutes I was trying to get it started. But it wouldn't go.
So my @*(!&(#!!!! key broke again.
Now AAA is towing the car back to my house.
What is wrong!!
Poor poor running & now not even starting?
