I was able to get the cable sheaths from Volvo for my 164 about a year ago. The cables are NLA, so I ended up making some out of rebar tie wire. The wire is the same gauge, but not nearly as strong. I found the roll of wire at my local steel company. However, for the cost of one original cable, I was able to buy enough of the tie wire to last the lifetime of the car.
