Well, thanks for the compliments. Have camera, will consume bandwidth.
I'm curious about your method, mainly what filters do you use?
I can't apply your method generally, because most of the cars needing an oil change belong to my busy kids, some of whom I probably wouldn't see as often if they didn't have that nagging reminder sticker I put on the windshield.
However I did get a chance to "test" the waiting game. Had an 89 sitting still for 5 years -- a true garage queen -- before changing its oil. I know Bounty is absorbent, but this thing oversoaked a Fruit-of-the-Loom undershirt when I unscrewed the dealer's Volvo (Mann) labeled filter. I expected some oil, but not the soaking I got.
Those old photos were posted among the many OKOD threads of 7-8 years ago, when we debated the effectiveness of the anti-drainback valves. The Orange Kiss O' Death depicted in my last post, was seemingly less likely to retain its oil. I wouldn't know by experience on a Volvo.
I did prefill one once. I made a second mess. :)

Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.
