Update 200 1986

Update.

I pulled the instrument cluster and jumpered pins 1 & 3 where the temperature compensating board plugs in. Put everything back together. Took it for a test drive. As soon as I started the engine the temp gauge was high, almost to the red. This was a cold engine -- hadn't been started for two days. Drove about 2-3 miles and the temp gauge sits on the line between the black and the red. Engine is not overheated. After I got home I checked and the engine is fine.

I did cure one thing. The speedo used to twitch at idle. Sometimes jumping up to 30 mph. Before I reconnected everything I sprayed all electrical connectors with electrical cleaner. No more speedo twitch.

Any ideas on the temp gauge before I pull it back out and cut the jumper?
