I second the concern for the "Backspace"! I just went through this with my 544 and the mounting of 4.5" wide stock Volvo Steel wheels (from a 1967 P1800)

They have exactly the same "Backspace" dimensions and it is amazing how close the suspension fits into the rim on the front wheels, clearance can almost be measured with a feeler gauge. Rechecked with the stock 4" wide wheels and it was exactly the same. "What? Me Worry?"
