crankcase venting 120-130

Rhys-

You are confusing me now.

With the car idling, I pull the PCV hose off the balance tube, the car stumbles and acts like it's going to die, as if receiving too much air and not enough fuel.

When I plug the end of the orifice with my finger (the same as taping it shut to test) the car dies as if not receiving not enough air at all. Is this what you mean about not enough air being pulled through the carbs?

Then when I replace the PCV hose, the car runs normal as if it is receiving the correct level of air to fuel balance.

What am I missing here?

I am assuming with what you are saying that with the balance tube blocked off, that I should be able to tune the carbs then, adjusting the correct fuel/air ratio to make it run smooth at idle, then reattaching the tube and fine tuning some more?
