As far as I know it's not stock, and probably had nothing to do with an aftermarket stereo system. I can't think of any reason for an indicator light on a stereo system.
Even though there could be alot of things it went to my best guess would be an aftermarket alarm system, they usually had a small flashing light that was intended to warn the would-be car thieves.

What is the add-on rocker switch for?
