why is the BW35 trans despised? 140-160

Australian made BW35's were OK & lasted as long as any motor did + they are dirt cheap to overhaul.

However, they still are bad on fuel & really hurt power & economy.

A B20E + BW35 equipped 140 is slower than a B20B + 4-speed & probably nearly as slow a B20A + 4-speed to give you some idea of how much power they drain.
