Thanks for the tip, Steve. My fill plug was OK last year when I checked the fluid levels, and it appears to be well-lubricated from a leak coming from the fill plug area. Perhaps I didn't screw it in well enough after the check. My interest in the differential was due to this recent wetness on the back cover (but not from the pinion seal area).
