Very interesting picture. Who is this and are there any more pictures of the set up? Maybe a link perhaps?

I believe that the plunger that swtches the pressure on/off can stick. This is moved by the solenoid. It can certainly gum up so that the OD takes its time dropping out. Some times it stays engaged and needs to be left overnight. Hopefully you won't need reverse while it's in that state.
