knife for windshield removal

Be careful, Erwin. If the PO got that windshield replaced, it may have (read most likely has been) set in with polyurethane glue instead of the soft butyl rubber. The difference is night and day getting them out. Where the butyl seal is a do-it-yourself removal, for most of us, the poly means getting a pro.

Find where some of it oozed out and poke it with a screwdriver. If it gives like chewing gum, it is butyl, if it feels more like hard candy, its poly.
