IS FCP Groton going bad?

Thanks for the response. It is nice to see that FCP cares about their reputation and is monitoring customer concerns. However, I do believe that you have misunderstood a lot of what I was saying. I will try to address your statements point by point. I hope we can clear things up.

1) Website setup.

I did not complain about the website setup at all. Please re-read my original post and see for yourself. I am fine with the website. In fact, I was fine with the website back when it was a clunker 5 years ago. In fact, I think so much energy goes into the website for many retailers that they forget the core of their business. So, give the website a rest it's fine, it's serviceable, I am not looking for an online "experience" when I am on your website, I am looking to quickly and efficiently order some parts. Delete all the blogs, contests, what have you that distracts me from my goal and I'll be thankful.

2) Receiving Incorrect Wiring.

This is where the heart of the problem lies. I have been buying from FCP Groton for may years now. When I call I usually get pretty good advice and comments from the staff. Now I don't know whom I was speaking with last time with the wires, but what I got was similar to an offshore tech support handling. The person just read the description off the website for me. My car is a 1993 940 8-valve Wagon with Rex/Regina Ignition Chassis number 074230. Here are the two Bougicord possibilities from your website:

and

According to the description they both should fit. I called to make sure I get the correct one. I was asked a bunch of questions (year, model, type of ignition, chassis number, wagon/sedan, etc.) and was told the one in the second link is the correct one. I ordered that set online (paid with PayPal) and it was the wrong set. That in and of itself is no big deal, mistakes happen, but when I asked the person why he thought this was the correct one he said one is for wagon, the other is for sedan. Now that was off the wall and there is no information on your website to back this up. Sounded like he really didn't know, but had to get me "processed" quickly and move on. That is what it felt like to me. Again, the actual mistake is no big deal and I would have preferred the answer "I don't know, why don't you buy both and return the wrong one" or something like that, but instead I got BS.

Of course the return handling was done well. I got a shipping label for the return postage and mailed the set back. I still have not received my refund, but I am confident I will. I never had a bad experience with FCP in that sense. In fact until recently I always had good experience with FCP.

3) Name brand recognition.

What I was trying to express is that when I went to look for front brake rotors for 1993 Volvo 940 Wagon (my signature also includes this vehicle as my wife's) I could find no brands I trust. Besides Genuine Volvo, which is pricey I could see no brand I am familiar with. As most older Volvo owners will tell you the brake system on these cars is really sensitive to component variation. It is very risky to put an unknown brand of pad or rotor into a Volvo. I have never heard of Nordic or Pilenga, which is all the choices you provide now for this car. Where is Ate? Brembo? Zimmermann? Those are trusted and known brands with lots of experience in brake components. I have no idea what Nordic rotors are like and neither does any one else since these things have not been around enough to gain any reputation. I am very unlikely to risk my family's safety by buying these things. This goes back to my point of concentrating on the website while degrading the core values of the business by deleting trusted brands from your offerings. I could take a clunky website, but I am not sure if I will continue to shop with you if I can't buy brands I trust. Especially in brakes.

4) Name to face.

Here I am not sure I can help you since I do not remember whom I spoke with. Sorry, but I do not think this is a problem with a particular individual, but rather a systemic problem. Problem of eroding values.
