radio ground has +12 volts?

Hey All,
Well my 1992 740 cr-814 radio finally bit the dust (I think, read on). RIP. Now it's time to move on to some modern equipment. Anyway I've found 4 or 5 contradictory pinouts for that connector at the back of the radio here and I understand that the wires for the back 4 speakers will be coming out of the separate amp that I have. Here's the problem - when puzzling thru which wires are what with VOM I discovered that the solid black wire which is always the ground on all the pinouts has +12v with ignition key in run on position?? Double checked myself, no voltage to any other wire with the key except the one that carries the constant 12 for the memory and the black ground. Does anybody know where that ground goes and how it might be feeding 12v to the connector? This is totally stock and has never been messed with audio wise. Any input appreciated. Will rip into this weekend of course...
