If your air bag module is cracked, by all means go to the bone yard and get a new used one! Volvo originally said ten years, then 15 years on air bag life, but a year or two ago the said the bags are good for eternity!

You seem to be overly concerned about your aviators shattering if the air bag blows up in your face, well, unless your aviators are from China and are made of craptastic materials, quality glasses made of polycarbonate will not shatter, they will just pop out of the frames.

When it comes to people having their thumbs "broken"/ not blown off, if they were wearing their seat belts, they would not have suffered that injury!

Trust me on this one, having your aviators damaged along with a bloody nose is far less of an inconvenience than a six month recovery or death.
