1995 940 temperature gauge not working

A single wire to the Temp Sensor under the intake manifold. With the Key in the On position, if you breifly short that wire to the Engine block ( ground) the gauge should start to move to HOT. If it doesn't move at all... The problem is not the sensor but something between the wire and the gauge.
