1995 940 temperature gauge not working

The ECT supplies temperature information to the ECU (engine) and EZK (ignition). It is under intake manifold parts 3 and 4.

The temperature gauge sending unit is under intake manifold ports 1 and 2.

Your problem is likely to be bad solder joints on the back of the instrument cluster. You might check them and re-solder as you think is necessary.
