When my dipper switch went bad, I had to drive with just my aux lights (which are very bright spotlights). It pushed me to get the signal switch modification completed - it was worth the minor wiring trouble to solve the problem.

But... I do occasionally still have a problem. Flipping the dipper a few times usually brings it back. Contacts are probably dirty...
