Thanks Art, I have pulled the rubber jamb boot and didn't see any obviously bad wires, but it is hard to inspect them very well since they are also shrouded in hard plastic wrap. I did discover (both, door closed and open) that you can pull up on the inside lock and they all unlock, and you can push it down and they all lock, but not from the lock cylinder, door open or closed. Although you can't lock the door with the cylinder with it open, it won't let you (tried tripping the latch too). Does this indicate the cylinder switch or is that what it is using with the inside lock pin/switch as well and indicates a door jamb wire problem instead?
