Did you try to change the fluid with a full flushing out?
the kickdown cable is adjustable as the do stretch, bottom cable on the pulley.
My 740 had rough shifting until I adjusted it.
good-luck
Thought about trying a fluid flush. Could't hurt it at this point, as I have heard stories of flushing old trannies, but this one is already broke so, why not?. But, has anyone seen a fluid flush bring back a non-shifting brick?
Sounds to me like the throttle valve cable may have broken. It is a cable that parallels the throttle cable at the fuel injection throttle and goes to the transmission. When the one on my 240 broke it first wouldn't shift from 2nd to 3rd, then 5 miles later as I limped to the mechanic, would not shift from 1st to 2nd. The cable is in a sleeve so you may not be able to visually inspect.
hope that's it!
The cable is alright(I think) as it springs back when I pull slack from trans to throttle. It is connected at both ends.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
