I'm in the process of stripping a '64 donor. Took out the dash Tuesday. Without the windshield installed, getting at those Philips screws was, of course, easy, especially with a light impact gun. It's certainly worth trying an offset screwdriver, perhaps after the application of a little penetrating oil.
