Not sure if anyone else has tried David Samuels' modified chainsaw method. David, I tried to email this to you via your profile on this website, but the email links don't seem to work.

Most of the process looks straightforward, but I'm wondering about the part about replacing the venturi. Maybe it will make more sense once I get in there and after I've cut it out?

On the funnel that you used to create a new venturi, what did you use for the black edging (you mentioned door edge trim???)?

I have replacement resistor and switch. I'm not even sure if the resistor needs to be replaced but is this hard to do with your method?

At this point I'm not real fussy, if I have something blowing air at all I'll be happy. I survived last winter here in North Dakota without a fan, including a blizzard and a -44F morning, but those aren't situations I want to repeat. :)
