Starter Problem??? 200 1989

There a few possibilities. The voltage to click the start solonoid when you turn the key to start goes from the ignition switch to the park/neutral switch to the solonoid. I would start by checking if 12V gets to the solonoid when your assistant turns the key to start. Of course you must do this when the no crank condition occurs. Have you tried jiggling the gear shifter in parK and neutral?
