How do you test a Pressure Sensor? 140-160

Is there a way to test the Bosch pressure sensor to see if it is functioning properly? Also, I am assuming they have that hard yellow plastic coating over the screw for a reason? I have one pressure sensor (not mounted) that has a hole drilled in that area to get to the screw. What exactly do these things do and what are some of the symptoms of a bad one? Thanks
