Speed-related whine - only when cold

In FARM BOY's case I would think they are two separate issues. Whine is Center bearing and rumble, an axle issue.

If you are pretty sure you hear it from the wheel bearing. Can you feel a temperature difference on the Rim from one side to the other, after a long drive, suggesting that one Bearing is getting hot? Any hint of gear oil dripping out of that seal? Sometimes when axle bearings go bad the heat up enough to ruin the axle seal.
