PV544 Model G 444-544

Would like to offer a point of clarification based upon the "Key" for interpreting the Volvo Chassis Identification Plate.

The first two digits of the Chassis number "11" identify the model type as PV 544

The third digit identifies the Engine type. "1" being a B18A and "2" being a B18D

The fourth digit identifies the Destination Market. "2" being Standard and "4" being US Export

The fifth digit indentifies the Transmission type. "1" being M30 (3 Speed) and "4" being M40 (4 Speed)

Thus, if only 19 PV544's were made and identified as 11121 G, those would have all been the "Domestic", single carbureted, three speed variants.

The remaining 3,381 - or a greater portion thereof - would have been identified as 11244 G (US Export) or other variants of the "export" models identified with the fourth digit of "5" Norwegian Export, "6" Danish Export, or "3" Export - with no country identified.
