Original distributer had 2 lobes badly worn-one of them wouldn't open the points at all. This engine has not run before, but I did dissamble after purchase to check clearances. I can't find a vacumn leak, but probably do need to check compression with a gauge. I have done the 'finger over the plug hole' check and it feels very strong. I do see gasoline (moisture) in the rear carb after running the engine. I have also tried adjusting the mixture, with no noticable improvement. I do have a webber carb and intake, but it did not work well on my previous car, so I changed to SU's. Thanks for the reply.
