Some may remember my "Bucket Trip" last April. I drove my '56 444 from Buffalo to Monterey California and back for a meeting. Well, since I liked it so much, I decided to make the same trip but with a different car. I fixed up an 1800ES that I bought for my daughter when she was 12 (1997) and re-committed it to her when she finished grad school 12 years later. I have it on "classic" insurance ever since I finished it because she got married and decided Brooklyn was a damn nice place to live. She might be right but having a 1800ES in NYC is trouble. Mostly because of the "Bump Parking" procedure followed by most residents on the side streets. So a new B20 with a T5 and Mikuni 42's sit in a Cypress Green 1973ES and it drove 200 miles last year. So I think a round trip is in order for this car. I called the insurance company (first mistake) to see if there is some kind of notification or exception I could work out with them. They have 4 cars on the policy, all original and all stock ....1937 Dodge coupe, 1941 Chrysler 8, and 2 1800es's both green. So you'd think they would try to help (policy holder since 1971). Nope! " ...is there a car show out there?..." I told them probably was but what do I need to do so I can drive out there in my '73? ..."I'm sorry.... we don't allow that ..." So, okay, I'm too honest...don't ask don't tell and all that. But I'm still going to drive out there... so, is there a car show in the San Francisco area around April 15 2010. If there is (or if you's like to have a "special" show) perhaps I can live by the rules. I can always change insurance for 2-3 weeks but I'm trying to keep it simple.
