Thanks for all the advice. First, the brass tip of the rotor was all bent and the bakalite or plastic rotor body was broken. i picked out everything and replaced points, condenser, cap wires and plugs. I also replaced the new Bosch blue coil with an original i got off ebay. I followed the advice of checking for current by using a test light at the negative termina, and got an iluminated light with both the points open and with them closed. I finally tracked it to the wire from the negative terminal on the coil to the condenser terminal on the Distubutor body. I replaced that and viola! it started right up. the car idled beautifully. it started up agin the next day, no problem.
However, the amp light would go on when I tried the directional lights or wipers. I check this forum and discovered it was buildup on the small 25A fuse, cleaned it and the signals work fine!
However, now I can not get the car to start again! It cranks just fine, get spark at the coil, and when I pull a plug and hold it close to the cylinder block, I see a faint spark. Checked the fuel line to the carbs and it seems to be getting fuel.
Am I not getting enough spark?
I am very grateful for all the suggestions, its been a great help.
Thanks agin for the advice.
