A/C compressor 700 1992

A/C cycles on and off, but after a few minutes, the clutch seems to meet increasing resistance, until it is eventually not turning the compressor.

Looks like it may have already over-heated the clutch and ruined one of the springs(it is not releasing evenly).

I don't know whether that is the compressor failing, or increased pressure building up in the system due to a blockage, or what.

How can I troubleshoot this?
